PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating method of soil to effectively remove pest of soil by using hydrogen azide gas. SOLUTION: In order to remove pest of soil, a compsn. containing an azide compd. which produces hydrogen azide by hydrolysis is sprayed on the soil. The treatment is controlled to obtain >=500 and <=20000 product (C×T), wherein C (ppm) is the hydrogen azide gas concn. in vacancies in the soil produced by hydrolysis above 10 deg.C soil temp. and T (hour) is the period of treatment.
