<p>The engine has two rows of cylinders (3, 4) arranged at right angles to each other in the form of a V. The pistons (5, 6) in both rows drive the same crankshaft (10) through connecting rods (7, 8). The engine is air cooled and the cylinders have ribs on their outside surfaces for this purpose. The fuel injection pump (25) is contained in the space (22) between the branches of the V. Other auxiliary equipment can also be accommodated in this space. The space (22) between the branches of the V is closed by a cover plate (23). The underside of the plate carries sound absorbing material (24) which significantly reduces the noise emitted to the surrounding by the engine.</p> |
