FIELD: manufacture of shells of small arms, possibly production of armor-piercing cores. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting necessary-size blank off steel rod, preliminarily deforming one end of said blank by spinning and forming predetermined-length uniformly narrowing end portion with blunted nose; finally shaping head portion of core by upsetting and pressing it out and simultaneously performing straightforward extrusion of tail portion of core.
