A mulching mower (1) has a housing (2) with which it is moved, by means of wheels (4), over the plane of a lawn surface. In the housing (2), there are arranged, one above the other, a mowing blade (9) and a mulching blade (13), with the mowing blade (9) being connected directly to the output shaft (7) of the motor (6) and driven by same in the direction of rotation N1, whereas the mulching blade (13), by means of an intermediate reversing drive (12), is driven around the axis of rotation (8) in a direction of rotation N2 opposed to the direction of rotation N1. Because the mowing blade (9) rotates in a direction opposed to that of the mulching blade (13), the grass cut by the mowing blade (9) is crushed to a greater extent so that, overall, longer grass lengths can be cut off, as a result of which the frequency of mowing can be reduced as compared to conventional mulching mowers. |
