This invention concerns an extrusion die for extruding metal. The die (14, 16, 18) has at least one insert (40, 48, 54) made of a material with a thermal conductivity different from that of the die, for local control of the radial heat flow. The insert has a plate (42, 50, 56) oriented perpendicular to the die axis (x) from which pins (44, 46, 52, 58) extend parallel to the die axis into the inside of the tool. With the inserts, the heat flow within the extrusion die is simple to control. The more homogeneous temperature distribution and controlled heat flow make it possible to reduce plastic deformations in the extrusion die. |
