PURPOSE:To improve the detection accuracy for the strip tension better than the conventional method, and to make the strip with high accurate thickness possible to be manufactured, by installing the looper roller's deflection detector in the interstand looper unit. CONSTITUTION:The deflection detector 4 is attached to the middle of the beam 3 passed through the hollow portion in the looper roller 2 installed between the stands N and N+1. The deflector 4 is an eddy-current type noncontact displacement meter for measuring the displacement of the inner surface of the roller 2 from the beam 3 undisplaceable by the strip tension, and for detecting the deflection of the looper roller 2. Since the deflection of the roller 2 is specifically related to the tension of the strip 1, the deflection is converted into the tension by the displacement- tension transducer 5; the roller 2 is vertically shifted so as to make coincidence between above tension and the command tension data T' through the amplifier 6, the cylinder 8, the shaft 9 and the looper arm 10. As a result, the strip 1 is loaded with a tension equal to the command data. According to this method, the detection accuracy for the strip tension is improved without being affected by the inertial force generating in the detector at accelerating or decelerating the looper unit depending on the conventional method. |
