<p>The present invention concerns a method for separation of pyridine and/or pyridine derivatives from aqueous solutions by extraction with pressurized carbon dioxide. The invention is based on the insight that carbon dioxide is a weak acid and pyridine and/or pyridine derivatives are weak bases. The acid-base interaction between the solute and the solvent makes carbon dioxide a particularly suitable solvent for the extraction of certain weak bases from aqueous solutions.</p> |
