A safety device for elevator doors comprises an object detecting device (20) provided on at least one of an inner door (9) mounted in a cage and outer doors (8) installed on respective floors to detect an object S being detected, existing in a detection area set at a tip end of the door in non-contact manner and/or contact manner. The door is stopped or reversed when the detecting device (20) detects the object being detected during a door closing operation.
