DATA TRANSFER METHOD

A data transfer method which is effective in data transfer between a personal computer and an external device such as a PC card connected to the personal computer. First, part of data to be transferred are used as address data in a memory-to-memory data transfer mode to store the other data to be transferred at the memory addresses designated by the address data. Then, the data are transferred to an external device such as a PC card in a block transfer mode. At that time, the address data of the transmitting side, i.e. the part of the data to be transferred, are put on an address bus, and consequently the data are transferred through both the address bus and data bus.
