POLYESTER FILM FOR METAL SHEET LAMINATING

A film for metal sheet laminating which comprises a first copolyester comprising ethylene 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate units as the main repeating units, or comprises a blend of the first copolyester with a second copolyester comprising ethylene terephthalate units as the main repeating units. The first copolyester and the blend each contains 0.05 to 8 mol% diethylene glycol. The film has a water extractable content as low as 0.5 mg/in<2> or below and a center-line average surface roughness (Ra) of 4 to 30 nm. The film is excellent in moldability, suitability for retortion, and taste preservation, does not impair the tastes of beverages, etc., and has satisfactory handleability.
