Bis-alkenyl-bicyclohexanes of formula (I) are claimed, in which R<1>, R<2> = 2-7C alkenyl; Z = -CH2CH2-, -OCH2-, -CH2O-, -(CH2)4- or a single bond. Also claimed are (i) liquid crystal (LC) media (II) with at least 2 components, containing at least one compound of formula (I), (ii) LC display elements containing an LC medium (II), and (iii) electro-optical display elements containing medium (II) as dielectric.
