An auxiliary motor drive system including a driving device (12) and an auxiliary motor (10). The driving device is powered by the engine (14) of a motor vehicle and in turn drives the auxiliary motor. The auxiliary motor in turn drives the drive shaft (52) of the motor vehicle, thus allowing the engine power output to be applied to the vehicle drive shaft while bypassing the vehicle's transmission (48). The driving device (12) can be a hydraulic pump, a compressor, or an electric generator, while the auxiliary motor (10) is a hydraulic motor, a pneumatic motor, or an electric motor respectively. |
