Paper-making machine press section

The press section, of a papermaking machine, has a pressure system to press against the paper web (18) on the blanket (16) before the start (22) of the pressure gap (20). Also claimed is an operation to extract water from the wet paper web where the air carried by the moving web (18) is deflected outwards, at least partially, in front of the press gap (20) to prevent a pressure build-up in the pressure gap (20).
