<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller capable of reducing the power consumption of a memory, effectively uses a power source and prolong the life of a battery in the controller which controls power supply to a storage device. SOLUTION: A power supply part 5 is connected to a RAM 3d and controls the power supply from the power source 4 to the RAM 3d under the control of a CPU 1. This control is carried out, for example, when no data is stored in the RAM 3d or when data are stored in the RAM 3d and written in a RAM 3c after being compressed. In this case, the power supply to the RAM 3d is stopped under the control of the power supply part 5 and the electric power is used effectively to use the battery for a long time.</p> |
