PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of the radiation-transmissible both side- coated photographic element without impairing satisfactory cold image tone by combining an emulsion of extremely thin flat grains smaller in thickness than a specified value with an emulsion of flat grains having a specified average grain thickness. SOLUTION: The both side-coated radiation permeble photographic element contains at least 2 kinds of spectrally sensitized flat grain emulsions in each of a forward hydrophilic colloidal layer unit and a backward hydrophilic colloidal layer unit, and the flat grains in the first emulsions have an average grain thickness of 0.1-0.3μm, and the flat grains in the second emulsion have an extremely thin thickness of <0.07μm, and the extremely thin type second emulsion exhibits a higher S/N ratio, that is, a higher image quality than that of the first emulsion, when a coating amount of each emulsion is same as each other, and the first emulsion having its 40-90% spectrally sensitized is combined with the second emulsion having its 10-60% spectrally sensitized.
