PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound from an inexpensively obtainable raw material in high yield by adding a specific compound to a reaction system when an aromatic halide is reacted with a acetylene compound in the presence of a palladium catalyst, a copper salt and a base. SOLUTION: When an aromatic halide compound (preferably benzene substituted with bromine) is reacted with an acetylene compound [preferably a compound of the compound of the formula HC≡C-R<1> (R<1> is an alkyl, an aryl, etc.,) in the presence of a palladium catalyst [preferably bis(triphenylohophine), a copper salt ()preferably copper iodide) and a base (preferably trithylamine of diethylamine), the reaction is carried out in the presence of a compound [preferably a compound of the formula M<+> X<-> (M is the residue of a compound containing an alkyl on nitrogen atom; X is a halogen) capable of releasing a halogen ion. An aromatic hydrocarbon-based solvent is preferable as the reaction solvent. the reaction temperature is preferably 20-100 deg.C.
