PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an animated image along an actual run course in real time to a driver, by overlapping and displaying the animated image of a road seen from a running vehicle which is formed with the utilization of a three- dimensional computer graphics technique, on a road map along with an optimum route and a position of the vehicle. SOLUTION: A road section animated image data of which are required to be formed and a run speed are obtained by accessing to a database 3 of run locus data. Road data are formed by accessing to a database 1 of road map data. Moreover, background data of buildings, trees, etc., are formed. Data of a virtual animated image seen from a windshield of a vehicle are formed with the use of a three-dimensional computer graphics software based on the road data, run locus data and background data. A optimum route calculated by an optimum route calculation part and a position of the vehicle specified by a locator are overlapped with the road map and displayed on a guide screen. The guide screen is displayed together with the animated image. |
