PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the stability of a pit in the soft ground by preventing an excessive intake of soil and sand by cutting the trim end of each provided face plate of a shield machine, and overlapping the adjacent face plates. SOLUTION: The trim end of each face plate is cut in main shield machines 2, 2 and vertical shield machines 3, 3, subsequently the cut parts are overlapped in the face plates of both the shield machines 2, 3. Then, the face plates of the main shield machines 2 and the face plates of the vertical shield machines 3 are disposed in the same plane. Besides, for places not to be covered by the main shield machines 2 and the sub-shield machines 3, there are provided auxiliary excavating machines 4.... Also, each hood of skin plates 6, 6 is spread over the rear surface of the cutter face plate. So, phase differences between the face plates do not generate gaps, as the result an excessive intake of soil and sand can be prevented, thereby ensuring the stability of a face in the soft ground. |
