PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording medium in which hindrance of transfer and traveling performance due to transfer of back surface layer components and ink layer components to the counterpart side are eliminated. SOLUTION: The thermal transfer recording medium comprises a thermally fusible ink layer consisting of a coloring agent and a thermally fusible vehicle formed on one side of a basic material, and a back surface layer of heat- resistant resin formed on the other side. The ink layer and the back surface layer contain a surfactant satisfying following relationships; A>=3, B>=3, C>=O, A>C, B>C0 , where A is the absolute difference of SP value between the thermally fusible vehicle in the ink layer and the surfactant in the ink layer, B is the absolute difference of SP value between the heat-resistant resin in the back surface layer and the surfactant in the back surface layer, and C is the absolute difference of SP value between the surfactant in the ink layer and the surfactant in the back surface layer. |
