PURPOSE:To produce copper coated wire of high quality by heating molten copper flowing through a passage directly by incompletely burned gas to thereby remove dissolved exygen in molten copper. CONSTITUTION:A base wire 1 is supplied through a drawing unit 2 and a shaping unit 3 into a housing 4 and through a drive roller 6 into a connecting tube 7. A cathode copper plate 29 containing low oxygen supplied from a preheating furnace 26 having a heater 27 and conveying rollers 28 is molten in a melting furnace 24 having a heater 25 and heated directly by incompletely burned gas containing buthane gas or the like as main fuel component while flowing through a passage 23 and deoxidized to contain less than 20ppm of oxygen content and to be flown into a retaining furnace 20. The molten copper supplied from the furnace 20 into a crucible 11 is adhered onto the outer periphery of the base wire 1 passing through a nozzle 10. The base wire 1 adhered with copper is cooled while passing through the tower 14 and formed in desired diameter by a rolling mill 16. It is then contained through a coiler 17 into a drum 18. |
