PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner which enables shortening the defrosting time and saving the power consumption both at the same time. SOLUTION: This air conditioner has a first defrost command means (Steps S2, 3, 4, 5) and a second defrost command means (Steps S2, 3, 4, 7), the first of which means is for commanding inverse cycle defrost to effect defrosting of the outdoor heat exchanger by hot gas from the compressor and the second is for commanding outside-fan defrost to effect defrosting by blowing outdoor air on the outdoor heat exchanger with the compressor stopped and an outside- fan driven. By dissolving the frost to some extent (Step 5) by effecting inverse cycle defrost for a prescribed period of time at the start defrosting by the outside-fan defrost (Step 7) can be carried out efficiently. |
