PURPOSE:To industrially obtain an optical compensating sheet capable of considerably widening the angle of the field of view of a TN type liquid crystal display device and to improve the adhesion of a transparent-polymer film so that the sheet is obtd. CONSTITUTION:At least an oriented film is formed on a transparent polymer film and a discoid compd. is preferentially oriented so that the normal direction of the discoid face of the discoid compd. coincides with a direction inclined from the normal direction of the polymer film by 5-85 deg..
