PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the rigidity or the strength from being damaged in tips used for grooving machining, etc., while sufficient amount of front relief or side relief at the side face of a cutting edge part, is maintained. SOLUTION: The tip is structured so that a cutting edge part 14 having a cutting edge 13 extending in the direction of tip-thickness at its tip part, is formed on the peripheral face 12 of a plate-like tip body 11. In this case, the base end part 19 of the cutting edge part 14 is formed into a fixed thickness in the direction of the tip-thickness, while a projected part 18, the thickness of which becomes gradually thicker toward the cut-lip 13 side, is formed at the tip part of the cutting edge part 14. Thus, front relief angleαor side relief angleβformed by the side faces 14A of the cutting edge part 14 is changed in the direction away from the cutting edge 13, and the amount of relief of the side face 14A is ensured at the parts where the relief anglesα,βare large, while the rigidity or the strength of the cutting edge part 14 is ensured at the parts where the relief anglesα,βare small.
