PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for forming an image of higher quality by leading out the decreasing storage quantity of heat radiated from a thermal head heating part during interruption of printing operation thereby controlling heat storage of a thermal head according to an extremely simple correction equation derived from an unsteady thermal conduction equation because it is difficult to form a good image through a heat storage control where radiation of stored heat is estimated roughly. SOLUTION: In the image forming system performing thermal transfer recording using a pigment or a dye as a coloring matter while correcting an image data depending on the heat storage quantity of a thermal head at the time of recording, quantity of heat being stored in each heating dot is determined when application of the image data to each heating dot is interrupted according to an equationθ=exp(bτ) (θ; heat radiation rate andθ=1 when application of the image data is interrupted,τ; time when application of the imaqe data is interrupted, b; coefficient). Subsequently, the quantity of heat radiation is predicted and the image data is corrected.
