The invention relates to a rotary machine with positively-driven sequences of motion, suitable in particular for use according to the pump or compressor principle. The German Laid-Open Application P 2905380.3 discloses a similar machine, but this has two major drawbacks: a) externally effective axial imbalance, b) non-positive, wear-susceptible axial movement between pistons and shaft. The machine according to the invention (Figure 1) overcomes these drawbacks. The pistons (3.1, 3.2) only carry out axial movements, and the shaft (2) with shaft collars (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) carries out the radial movements; without non-positive axial movement between pistons (3.1, 3.2) and shaft (2). Moreover, two pistons (3.1, 3.2) in each case are controlled in such a way, that synchronously opposite movements result in cancellation of the axial inertial forces within the machine. Radial inertial forces do not occur, as the radially rotating parts are symmetric. The machine according to the invention is thus free of critical wear points, is neutral in terms of externally acting inertial momentum and has an extreme power density. <IMAGE>
