The present invention relates to the isolated form of the hydronephrosis gene (HNG) found to be involved or implied in renal diseases and disorders. The invention further relates to diagnostic methods, including prenatal diagnostic methods, based on the information encompassed in the gene and to kits and probes for performing these methods.
