The invention relates to a press for upsetting the ends of tubes, having longitudinally split upsetting shells, each of which is arranged on a moving carrier. In this arrangement, one upsetting shell on one carrier together with an upsetting shell on the other carrier forms a die which surrounds the end of the tube concentrically to the axis of the latter. In order to achieve easier exchangeability and accessibility of the die and hence shorten the cycle time, it is proposed that the carriers be designed as pivoted levers which are mounted so as to be pivotable about axes parallel to the axis of the tube and, at their ends, carry the upsetting shells. <IMAGE>
