The camera (10), of reduced weight and space requirement, capable of being used under water or in the air and comprising all the technical features of a standard camera, consists of a body (11) housing means for releasing a shutter (12) located behind a retractable mirror (14), said body being further provided with a sighting device (16), means for fixing an interchangeable photographic objective (15) designed for taking photographs in the air, a device for measuring (36) and displaying (37) the amount of light transmitted by the objective, and a magazine (17) containing a light-sensitive film and means for driving said film. Said body (11) is tightly sealed at its rear end by a closing flange (21) and at its front end by a front element (23) provided with an interchangeable transparent lens (18) to form a watertight box camera (20). A lateral handle provides control of all these elements.
