1532646 Introducing cables into pipes SIEMENS AG 10 Feb 1976 [6 Oct 1975] 51127/75 Heading H2C A cable is drawn into a pipe, which is to contain cable coolant fluid, in the presence of the fluid so as to provide lubrication and buoyancy. At the cable entry end (Fig. 1, not shown) the pipe (1) has a flange (5) secured to the concrete casing (2) by rods (51), via a socket adaptor (4). Entry sealing flange assembly (6, 7, 8) has sealing means (81, 82) to provide a seal with the cable (not shown), and a valve (73). The exit end of the pipe 11, Fig. 2, is similarly fitted with a flange 15 to which exit sealing flange assembly 16, 17, 18, 19, is attached, sealing means 74 sealing the end of the cable when it emerges, sealing means 91 sealing the drawing rope 20 as the cable is pulled through, and filling/venting valve 76. The leading end of the cable is introduced in the pipe and fluid (e.g. water) introduced, and air vented by one of the valves. Cable is pulled through pipe by rope 20. Flange 18 is secured to 17 by leaf springs 85, Fig. 3, such that the two can be pulled apart when the cable, guided by guide 65 emerges through seal 74 which retains the fluid. 18 and 19 are split, and retained by strap 21. On completion of threading, entry and exit flange assemblies are removed and connections made to flanges (5), 15.
|
