The invention describes a color covering comprising 28-51 percent by weight of water, 43-64 percent by weight of pigment containing carbonate with a specific particle distribution, and a specific particle diameter, and a particle diameter of 0.18-0.28 :m, and a specific surface area of 19-26 square meters/gram and 6-8 percent by weight of binding agents and conventional additives, which advantageously can be employed for covered papers. Color covering is produced by pigment moist-milling containing carbonate without dispersing or moistening agents addition to a solids concentration of 30-20 percent by weight in a stirring ball mill, subsequent concentration, re-dispersion, and binding agents, water and additives addition.
