The apparatus has a plate (10) on which a disc (11) is rotated by an electric motor. The user's foot is held in a shoe (14) that is joined to the disc (16) at a point near the edge of the disc. A cable (29) joins the shoe to a carriage (21) that holds the body of the user. The carriage slides on rollers (23) between it and an inclined support plate (20). This is joined to the plate that holds the disc and is moved on a post by a motor to adjust the inclination of the support plate.
