The invention refers to a mechanism for converting back-and-forth motion into rotating motion and viceversa. According to the invention, the mechanism is made up of a main support (1) provided with a central bore (a), in which the hollow hub (b) of a crown gear (2), which is connected to the main support (1), is mounted. The carrier and the drive pinions (9 and 10) are mounted in between a front disc (3) and an annular disc (6), which are assembled by means of retaining screws (7) and spacer bushes (8). The pinions (9 and 10) roll along the external toothing of the crown gear (2), forcing an exterior arm (13) to perform a combined motion of rotation and revolution, so that a coupling button (14), which is connected to the exterior arm (13), performs a rectilinear back-and-forth motion.
