PURPOSE:To enhance the effect of miniaturization when high resolution is implemented, by forming detecting slits on the inner surface of a drum shaped rotary scale, and providing a detecting part in the inside of the rotary scale. CONSTITUTION:Detecting slits 20a are formed on the inner surface of a drum shaped rotary scale at an equal interval. A detecting part 30 is composed of a fixed scale 31, a light emitting equipement 32, and a light receiving element 33. The detecting part 30 is mounted in the inside of the rotary scale 20. A rotary shaft 40 is fixed to a hub 20b of the rotary scale 20 by compression or bonding. In this constitution, since the slits can be formed by utilizing the size of the outer diameter of a rotary encoder effectively to the maximum extent, the effect of the miniaturization can be enhanced when high resolution is implemented. |
