A window module (10) for mounting either directly into the soft top of a vehicle or into a window side screen itself attachable to the half door of the soft topped automobile. The window module (10) has a fixed window (12) panel and a sliding window panel (14) mounted in a frame (18) which is divided longitudinally into interior and exterior parts. The two parts fit firmly together to form a confining channel for track for the sliding window panel. The surrounding fabric (19) is clamped to the frame either between the interior and exterior frame parts or between the exterior frame parts and an outermost decorative strip (88). The two frame parts (38, 40) may snap together by means of lugs on one part latching into apertures on the other. Alternatively overlapping flanges of the frame parts may be force fitted together. The force fit may be reinforced by bolts, welds, adhesive or other suitable means. The fabric (19) trapped between the frame parts may be fabric of the soft top of the vehicle or may be fabric of a surrounding frame which is adapted to fit on the half door of a motor vehicle.
