Aziridino-fullerene derivatives

Aziridino-fullerene compounds of formula (I) are new. Q = a fullerene group of formula C20+2m; m = 2-1000; R1 = optionally mono- or poly-substituted aliphatic, aromatic, araliphatic or heterocyclic group. Production of (I) comprises reacting a fullerene or fullerene derivative in inert organic solvent at -78 to 160 deg C with an iodinane of formula R3-N=I-R4 (II) in presence of a catalyst. R3, R4 = optionally mono- or poly-substituted aliphatic, aromatic, araliphatic or heterocyclic group.
