The invention refers to a machine for making bags from continuous thermoweldable strip that also provides the packaging of powder, solid or liquid materials, individually or in group, in the pharmaceutical, food, chemical or building materials industry. The machine includes a device for tensioning the preform strip (4) that consists of oscillating arms (13 and 14), joined to each other by an elastic coupling (18), and a position transducer (19) that controls a gear motor (8) used for unrolling. At the lower end of feed tube (2), on which the preform strip (4) is wound up, there is a longitudinal welding device (B) with a heating jaw (27). The transversal welding, the separation of the filled bag (43) and the advance of the semi-finished strip (4) along the feed tube (2) are achieved with the help of a multifunctional carriage (C) which has a reciprocal movement on vertical slide ways (40). Multifunctional carriage (C) supports, in console, on guiding shafts (75), transversal heating jaws (41 and 42) and a separation blade (44), whose movements are driven by a single gear motor (56).
