Antifungal phyllosilicate (I) comprises a phyllosilicate (II) having an organic antifungal agent (III) between its layers. Preferably at least part of the ion-exchangeable metal ions of (II) are optionally replaced by calcium or hydrogen ions. Also claimed is an antibacterial and antifungal composition (A) comprising (I), an inorganic antibacterial agent (IV) and optionally a metal oxide.
