<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance free from halogen impurities and suitable especially for the encapsulation of integrated circuits, economically, by using a compound having a phenolic hydroxyl group as a raw material, converting the compound to a carbonate compound, and further converting to glycidyl ether. CONSTITUTION:A compound having phenolic hydroxyl group, e.g. phenol, 2,4- xylenol, catechol, 2,2'-biphenyldiol, etc. is used as a raw material, and the hydroxyl group of the compound is converted to 1,2-carbonated glycerol ether and then to glycidyl ether to obtain the objective compound. The conversion of the raw material to the 1,2-carbonated glycerol ether can be carried out either by reacting glycidyl alkyl carbonate with a phenolic compound or by adding a phenolic compound to glycidol, and subjecting the diol component to ester-exchange with a dialkyl carbonate.</p> |
