A room air-conditioning unit comprises an air inlet, an air outlet, a heat exchanger between the inlet and the outlet, and an air circulation fan. The inlet opens and closes by means of inlet flaps moved by a motor. The outlet is opened and closed by a door moved by a motor which slides it vertically. The flaps for controlling the air direction extend across the outlet to change the direction of the outflowing air. Before the door opens or closes, the air control flaps automatically swivel up into an open position so as not to interfere with the movement of the door. When the inlet and outlet are about to close, the inlet flap motor is started up before the door motor, to ensure that the inlet and outlet will close absolutely at the same time even if more time is needed for the inlet flaps to move to a fully closed position. A sensor detects when the door reaches an almost closed condition and the door motor continues running for a predetermined time so as to ensure that the door is fully closed. |
