The switch has a hollow insulating support (4) with a switch breaker (2) at one end operated by an axially displaced drive rod (6), extending through the hollow interior (10) of the insulating support. The interior of the insulating support is at least partially filled with diverter elements between the drive rod and its inside wall, preferably provided by stacked diverter discs of zinc oxide or silicon carbide.
