The transfer press for large components incorporates several work stations and a transport system for moving components from one work station into another in synchronous steps of the press working cycle. For picking up, lifting, moving forward and putting down components, the transport system (27) includes three-dimensionally displaceable driven gripper rails with fixed component seatings. In addition to these fixed component seatings (7), the gripper rails (4) are provided with component seatings (8) which are movable relative to them. The component seatings (8) are controllably driven in such a way that in a work station (2) containing at least one first component (14) and one separate second component (13), during lifting of the components (13, 14) they together with the first component (14) move towards the second component.
