The retainer (1) of a boot (2) on a snowboard (3) comprises a fastener (4) and a retaining part (5) which engages the fastener in a housing (10). A locking part (11) receives the retaining part and holds the fastener in the housing. A support (13) engaging the retaining part positions the locking part relative to the housing. A locking part surface (18) is in contact with a support surface (17), the two surfaces being orientated so that they displace relative to each other when the locking part is locked. When the locking part is unlocked they maintain a fixed position relative to each other.
