PURPOSE:To provide a device, which can readily and efficiently effect removal of toner from a fixing roller and coating of a separating agent, by providing a roller provided between a web pay-off shaft and a web take-up shaft for passing the web against the fixing roller and using a cleaning web consisting of a particular laminated non-woven fabric. CONSTITUTION:In a device for cleaning a web, a cleaning web 5, which is moved in the direction of arrow between a pay-off shaft 3 and a take-up shaft 4 for removing toner from a fixing roller 1, is pressed against the roller 1 by a roller 6. The web 5 has a laminated structure consisting of a heat-resistant non- woven fabric 7 of polyester or the like and a non-woven fabric 8 consisting of novolak or polyamide having satisfactory silicone oil retaining character, with or without incorporated polyester. Toner 2 is wiped off a portion A, against which the non-woven fabric 7 of the web 5 is pressed by the shaft 3. Then, silicone oil impregnated in the non-woven cloth 8 is applied as off-set prevention liquid on the roller 1 by the roller 6. Thus, sufficient cleaning and coating effects can be obtained. Further, the life of the roller 1 can be improved. |
