PURPOSE:To obtain a small light wt. printer capable of performing high density printing by a decimal unit printing mechanism, by providing a means for reciprocally moving a printing head to a paper feed direction. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 6 is contacted with an eccentric cam 8 by the springiness of a pring 7 and, when the eccentric cam 8 is rotated around a shaft 9, the printing head 6 reciprocally moved along a guide 11 in the paper feed direction with respect to a stand 10. For example, when a character with 24X 24 dot constitution is printed, a printing needle p1 prints the dot a1.1 of a first character at first and a printing needle p2 prints the dot b1.1 of a second character. Next, the printing head 6 downwardly moves over an one printing dot interval in the paper feed direction by the rotation of the eccentric cam 8 and the printing needle p1 prints a dot a2.1 and similarly prints dots a3.1...a24.1. After printing is finished, the printing head moves rightwardly at a right angle to the paper feed direction and the printing needle p1 prints a dot a24.2 and the printing needle p2 prints a dot b24.2. By this method, even in a printer requiring high density printing, the wt. reduction of the printing head can be made easy. |
