A liner, e.g. for a boot used for winter sports or trekking, consists of an upper section (8) in the form of a neck which fits round the lower leg and is connected to a lower section (10) of supple sandwich construction which covers the foot, and a sole (6). The lower section has inner and outer layers of a supple material and an injected filling of an expanded material (11). The injected filling of the sandwich material is preferably a bi-constituent substance which reacts chemically and solidifies to form an amalgam, and is preferably of polyol-isocyanate. The liner incorporates an additional supporting member (14) which surrounds the top of the sandwich structure and is made from PVC combined with a non-woven fabric.
