The cover section (5) of the steering column sheathing has at least one form rigid support section (8) in the flexible area for form stability. Several support sections may be spaced out uniformly in the axial direction of the steering column (2). Adjacent support sections are interconnected by an elastic connection in such a way that they have limited movement capability. They may move in both the axial and radial directions of the steering column.
