<p>A sheet (10) that cooperates with a traditional ring carrier (45) to create a package that covers openable ends (40) of a unitized array of cans (35). The ring carrier (45) unitizes the cans into longitudinal ranks and transverse rows. The sheet (10) contains an array of longitudinal, substantially parallel pairs of slits (15, 20, 25) corresponding with the locations of the arrayed cans (35). Corner slits (15) are substantially curved and promote a positive corner wrap at the corner end (17) of the slit. A slit (20) transversely adjacent the corner slit (15) is curved and a slit (25) longitudinally adjacent to the corner slit (15) is straight for most of its length. Two integral flaps (30) extend transversely with respect to the sheet and are folded with respect to the remaining portion of the sheet through an angle greater than 90 DEG . Clipping the sheet (10) onto the array of cans (35) unitized by the ring carrier (45) creates an assembled package. Portions of the sheet (10) adjacent each pair of slits (15, 20, 25) engage a portion of the chime (38) of each corresponding can (35). As a result of the slit and pre-folded integral flap configurations the integral flaps remain in a substantially flat position with respect to the side-walls of the outside rows of cans (35) without any further attachment. <IMAGE></p> |
