The system for assisting loading of a car boot (1) comprises a horizontal roller (3) located near the upper edge (4a) of the boot rear wall (4). This enables objects (2) to slide into the boot. The roller is supported at each of its ends by an arm (5) fixed to the boot rear wall so that it can pivot in a vertical plane between active and inactive positions. The roller can be locked in its active position by a peg on the rear wall. This peg cab tip or slide into a position transverse to the arm so as to lock the arm in the vertical position.
