Nucleic acid molecules encoding human gamma 2, gamma 3, gamma 4, gamma 5, gamma 7, gamma 10 and gamma 11 subunits are provided. Subunits polypeptides are also provided. In addition, methods of detecting mutated forms of human gamma subunit and altered levels of human gamma subunit are provided. Methods of identifying antagonists and agonists of the interaction of a beta gamma ligand with its receptor are also provided.
