1491399 Removal of ferric ions from aqueous zinc solution AKZO NV 14 July 1976 [18 July 1975] 29335/76 Heading ClA Ferric ions are removed from an aqueous zinc solution containing at least 80 gl. of zinc ions by contacting the solution, having a pH of 0-1À3 measured on a meter provided with a glass electrode, with a cation-exhanger containing aminocarboxylic acid and/or iminodicarboxylic acid groups having from 1-5 carbon atoms per carboxylic acid group. Generally a solid exchanger is used, which may be in salt form such as alkali metal, zinc or ammonium salt, or in the acid form. The cation exchanger bed may be entirely or partly fluidized and is loaded suitably at 5-95‹ C. Elution of ferric ions from the exchanger suitably occurs at 10-30‹ C. using hydrochloric acid.
|
